Quick Important Note!

Andy!!! You should put Howl's Moving Castle (another Miyazaki movie) on the syllabus!! It is one of my favorite movies of all time!!! I truly love Spirited Away, and I'm sad it is no longer on the syllabus, but Howl's Moving Castle is more recent, and just as good!! Actually, it might be the best movie ever. And it's a 2004 movie, which means it fits the 5 year guideline! Just saying...

OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN AMY YOU'VE GOT A POINT. And what, might I ask, about Disney movies? They're practically drenched in fantasy. Covered with the stuff. Stuffed with everything fantasy covers. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, THE LITTLE MERMAID, ALADDIN... I'm SO surprised no one has mentioned this yet

I'll have to look up that movie. I loved Spirited Away. It's too bad it's not on the syllabus anymore :(.

I couldn't put Miyazaki's movie of Howl's Moving Castle on the syllabus without also including the 1986 Diana Wynne Jones novel on which it's based, also titled Howl's Moving Castle -- and there was no room on this semester's syllabus for another novel. Maybe next year.

You all are, of course, welcome to write about Spirited Away or any other Miyazaki movie in your papers for this class, as long as you're finding points of comparison with stuff that is on the syllabus. You can't write about Howl's Moving Castle, though, without taking the novel into account.

Well, I own the novel by Diana Wynne Jones, plus the sequel, which is also amazing! Truthfully, as soon as I saw the movie, I ran out and bought both books, since I loved it so much. And the sequel is so cute! I mean, they have a baby!! So precious!
